Overview
LOCTITE® 638 is a high-strength retaining compound purpose-built for cylindrical fitting parts with larger clearance gaps — up to 0.25mm — where a standard retaining compound would not fully bridge the gap. It resists vibration, shock, oil exposure, and elevated temperatures for durable industrial assemblies.
Usage Instructions
Clean surfaces where practical. Apply Loctite 638 generously to the shaft/bore surface to ensure the gap is bridged during assembly. Assemble with a slight twisting motion to distribute adhesive evenly. Allow full cure before loading the joint.

Is it a threadlocker?
No. Retaining compounds bond cylindrical fits. Use Loctite 242, 270 or 272 for threaded fasteners.
